Goldstein Kite Environmental

In 2019, Kite Capital Partners announced a formal partnership with Goldstein Brownfields Group, led by environmental attorney Michael Goldstein, to found Goldstein Kite Environmental (GKE). Mr. Goldstein’s experience and acumen in Brownfield law and redevelopment is unparalleled. GKE was created to finance the acquisition, remediation, and redevelopment of Brownfield properties throughout the United States. The stigmatized asset class presents significant barriers to entry and considerable opportunities to investors.

The formal merging of these companies created a comprehensive organization that united professionals encompassing a wide array of real estate and environmental competencies including complex real estate transactions, project management and property monitoring, demolition and dismantling, ground up development, environmental law including asset liability transfer, environmental remediation, and environmental insurance. The company’s deep range of professionals ensures the successful navigation of Brownfield redevelopment from start to finish.

While practicing environmental law for over 25 years, Mr. Goldstein forged important relationships among local and federal government regulators advocating Brownfield redevelopment. GKE harnesses these relationships to utilize a broad array of local and federally sponsored initiatives designed to incentivize the timely remediation and redevelopment of both rural and infill/urban properties with environmental contamination issues. Through these channels GKE can source undervalued investment opportunities while coordinating entitlement strategies to address affordable housing, renewable energy and other underserved needs for stakeholders in the local community where these environmentally impaired sites exist.

Prior to investment, GKE conducts thorough due diligence by partnering with industry leading land use attorneys, engineers, architects, and environmental consultants who are experts in mitigating risk within the niche asset class. Upon acquisition, GKE works with the same professionals to conduct environmental remediation while concurrently entitling its investment properties for their highest and best use. Following successful remediation and entitlement efforts, GKE’s properties become administratively eligible for horizontal and vertical development and are, in turn, marketed for sale to a growing list of institutional builders and renewable energy providers with a desire to develop Brownfield properties.
